Как заставить пользоваться ассетами приложение на rails?

Приложение в env=staging. Имеет такие же настройки как и у production. Стартует. Стили и скрипты не отображает/не выполняет. Ассеты прекомпилированы лежат в public/stag-assets. Смотрю ссылки, куда смотрят. А смотрят они в правильных направлениях, если, например тыкаю в отладчике хрома по ссылке правой кнопкой > открыть в новой вкладке - открывается мой css. Т.е. ссылаются правильно, сервером отдаются, но не отображаются. На закладке Sources отладчике хрома вижу папку stag-assets там два собраных файла - стили и скрипты. Файл стилей пустой. Файл скрипта полный. Но ими ни хром ни другие браузеры не пользуются, а отображают все без стилей. Уже была такая ситуация, с месяцок назад - победил. Сижу вспоминаю как. Вроде кажется, что это была опция config.sass.cache = false, стояла в true. Тогда все зашуршало, но теперь обратно поломалось и печаль.
